About the Author

Preston was brought up on a farm in the Mid-West of Western Australia, but he was educated mainly at Private and Government Schools in Perth, where he battled with mild dyslexia and social skills difficulties, throughout his schooling years, and as a teenager, he turned to writing short stories as a way of coping with his problems.

Although he did fairly well, in sports activities at school, he did very poorly in his academic studies, and often retreated to his story writing, as a coping mechanism.

After a lengthy break from his hobby of writing short stories, he returned to writing for a short while before giving it up again in his mid-twenties and only began writing again, when he discovered an online website, in January 2014, that supports and encourages writers to be creative with their writing.

As a child, Preston’s favourite author was and still is Beatrix Potter, with his favourite saying of hers being –

“There is something delicious, about writing those first few words of a story. You can never quite tell, where they will take you”.

So far Preston has published online a total of 25 stories, varying from 3 chapters with 6,474 words to 58 chapters with 189,980 words, and having reached the over 1.3 million words published milestone.

Preston has a couple of volunteer editors, who assist him with proof reading and editing each of the stories, and he wishes to thank Chris and his partner Mark from the UK, for all of their continued hard work, and previous editors Ms Moggy from Colorado and Jem from Cape Town, for all of their work in the past.

You may be wondering why I am referring to the fury marsupials from Rottnest Island in my home state of Western Australia. The name Quokka, and my email address of quokka63 are my user names on the international author website, that I discovered in 2014, and where 31 of my stories are currently published.

Finally, may I add, that the name Preston Wigglesworth is my pseudonym or pen name, of which some of it has a family connection.
